I don't know about Virtual PC, but I've been working in VMware for more 
than a year and it's rock-stable. Admittedly I use it the other way 
around: main system is Linux, and Windows run virtually. Linux has Zope 
installed and Windows access it over a virtual network. Sufficiently 
fast on an old machine (Pentium II Celeron 400MHz, 192MB RAM).

VMware is downloadable and a one month trial license is also available 
for free.
