[Zope] Reading file contents in Python

I have form (ZPT/Python) that allows the user to enter some text, 
basically by modifying a template.  Originally, the template was in 
line, but I would like to factor it out into a file for easier 
editing.  I can use the construct

<textarea tal:content="here/default_html"></textarea>

in the ZPT, but I would really like to be able to do this in the 
controlling Python script.  Unfortunately, container.default_html() 
does not work.  The MIME type is set correctly.

So how do I obtain the contents of the file?
