Thanks for the pointer.  Pythondirector doesn't do exactly what I want,
but it will be easy to adapt.  It installed cleanly (well, it did expose 
an apparent bug in Python 2.3's unicode support) and runs well under
Python 2.2.  Kudos for a useful, cleanly designed product!
