[Zope] How to sort the results of portal_catalog.searchResults()???

Hi All,
    I would like to sort the results of

   portal_catalog.searchResults() based on the 
last_modified_date....

But it seems that, portal_catalog...is producing the results 
randomly.....everytime the order of the items in result list 
differs.........


   Has anybody solved this problem...??? or anyother way to 
overcome this problem.....
