wrt to crystal reports and mysql/zope ... I dunno ...

Last time I ran zope on windows it was at or near version 2.1
something.... It crashed a lot ... that was all I remember...

So I can't speak about how well current versions run.

Zope's database is an Object Database ... Not a Relational database ...
For something like pictures,where pictures (objects) are organized in
logical groups (folders ... another object that can contain other
objects) ZODB is fine. Although for ease of use you may want to store
the pictures on the local file system.
