In principle, it is possible. But, you would need to work a bit...

There is a HowTo on Zope.org explaining how you can index
anything with ZCatalog which is URL addressable (something
like "ZCatalog anything").

Look at the "LocalFS" product. It shows you how to make
file system content URL addressable.

You will need wrappers for you images which extract the metadata
for use by Zope. "LocalFS" shows you how to do this.
