Sure you do. "\t" is the tab character!
These are plain old python strings, you always need to
escape backslashes or use "raw" strings:

>>> print 'c:\temp\test3'
c:      emp     est3
>>> print 'c:\\temp\\test3'
c:\temp\test3
>>> print r'c:\temp\test3'  
c:\temp\test3
