About that failure you must create these links:

- in "Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/Splitter/ISO_8859_1_Splitter/src" :

   ln -f ISO_885 ISO_8859_1_Splitter.c

- in "Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/Splitter/UnicodeSplitter/src" :

  ln -f UnicodeSpli UnicodeSplitter.c

then, you can execute Zope Installation into the directory zope (
/usr/local/zope ):

python w_pcgi.py ( or wo_pcgi.py)

Note:
 My hardware/software Zope runs on:

- IBM RISC-S-70 running AIX 4.3.3
- GCC 2.9. aix51.020209-1 (
http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/aix/products/aixos/linux/download.html
- Python-2.2-4 (the same link above)
- Apache-1.3.27-1 (the same link above)
- expat-1.95.2-3 (The same link above)
- Zope-2.6.2 (http://www.zope.org)

IIRC,
ISO_8859_1_Splitter marks the point where paths/names get truncated when
extracting with broken implementations of tar... use GNU tar
