Plone-2.0-final (latest) works with CookieCrumbler 1.18, CMF-1.5, however,
uses CookieCrumbler 1.30 (I'm using the one in Plone but have replaced the old
with the newer one).

Further the manage_addCC method is called from the 'CookieCrumbler' namespace
so the correct import is slightly different than your suggested modification
(see my comment here under).

My problem now is related to an apparent bug in zForum.py at line 173. That's
posted separately in this thread.

Almost correct, it should be 

from Products.CMFCore import CookieCrumbler

which is the module namespace containing the manage_addCC method. This helps!
