You need to provide more information, too:  we need to see the errors
generated by the compiler.

I can't reproduce the problem on my machine:

 $ /path/to/virtualenv-2.4 --no-site-packages /tmp/zodb32
 ...
 $ cd /tmp/zodb32
 $ mkdir src
 $ cd src
 $ wget http://www.zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2/3.2/ZODB3-3.2.tar.gz
 ...
 $ tar xzf ZODB3-3.2.tar.gz
 $ cd ZODB3-3.2
 $ ../../bin/python setup.py build
 ...
 changing mode of build/scripts-2.4/zdrun.py from 644 to 755
 changing mode of build/scripts-2.4/zdctl.py from 644 to 755


** Project changed: zope2 => zodb

** Changed in: zodb
       Status: New => Incomplete
