For anyone who also runs into this problem. It's undocumented but there
is another way to solve this problem. In the mappings tab your path can
also include VirtialHostBase so you can include a mapping such as

www.example.com/VirtualHostBase/https/www.example.com/myfolder

This will ensure your site returns urls that have https in front. This
solution won't if you have a single domain that you want to serve as
both http and https.
