Thanks, but not for this case. As I said, the improvements are 
subjective. I think these changes improve the look and the usage, but if 
I'm the only one, then checking them in probably isn't the right thing 
to do.

That's why I posted them here first, and then into the collector, so 
people could try them and comment. So far, I haven't seen any comments. :-(

(One of the changes does fix what appears to be a bug: I should probably 
extract that into a separate issue.)
