Yes and no,
Somtimes if you whana provide a easy enduser application where
the users work only sometimes, you are right.
But if you whould write a application where you whant all on
your fingertips... perhaps you need more information on a page.
I think it depends on what you are doing.

Sometimes I don't like to switch on a different view for to add
Content Types. It can slow down your working process.
