[ZPT] ZPT does validation of documents?

Hi all,
Just thought I'd share this with you;

<div metal:define-macro="not_busted">
<ul>
<li></li>
</ul>
</div>

Ok. Compilation is fine.

Whereas

<p metal:define-macro="busted">
<ul>
<li></li>
</ul>
</p>

Gives a compile-time error

Is this because METAL (or TAL) is doing some sort of HTML validation?
