I'd looked at SimpleTAL, but since something based on Zope existed I 
stuck with that -- we use Zope as well, so having the same template 
system was one of the features we were looking for.  I don't know if the 
differences in ZPT and SimpleTAL would really be problematic, but ZPT 
was easy enough to get installed.

But it does lead to a question -- the packages at zpt.sf.net are a year 
and a half old, and I get the impression that package isn't really being 
maintained.  I haven't encountered any problems yet, but I think other 
people have.  I think Sean Reifschneider said he had problems with the 
zpt.sf.net packages in JOTWeb (and he moved to SimpleTAL as a result), 
but I don't know the details.

Then there's also OpenTAL, which I didn't really consider for this 
project due to it using the GPL.  It claims to be more open to 
extension, but I don't know what that actually means.  I don't know if 
it's really a live package at this point either.

And, at some point Zope 3's ZPT packages are going to be separately 
installable as well, yes?  Are they already available that way?
