Hello... I am using Solaris 7 Sparc... Both the clients (running Zope) and the Server (running Oracle 8i). We have right now 4 machines running Solaris7 and the Oracle 8.0.5 libs (Client) and one with the Oracle8i client libs, to allow the dev and test of DCOracle with Oracle8i. Hope this helps. /B Bruno Mattarollo <brunomadv@ciudad.com.ar> -----Mensaje original----- De: LD Landis [mailto:ldl@ldl.HealthPartners.com] Enviado el: Wednesday, January 05, 2000 7:14 PM Para: brunomadv@ciudad.com.ar Asunto: RE: [Zope-dev] DCOracle Setup file for 8.1.5 (fwd) Bruno, What platform is this? I'm more interested in the 8.1.5 part than the DCOracle at the moment... That can wait... I'm sort of doing other things until things get worked out on the Linux/Blackdown/Sun "pouting"... (Sun sort of slighted Blackdown with their agreement with the new-whatever-Borland-is-called-these-days. The 8.1.5 distribution talks about getting the Blackdown port, etc... I've done that, but sort of have more than enough to do without wrestling with that too.... Just looking for a report of how it went, or what was involved in that... TIA! Thanks for your recommendation. Right now I'm in the testing process to see how reliably this will work.
In the meantime, I actually got DCOracle built, and the test works okay. I restarted Zope, and eureka! Zope can query Oracle! I thought this process would be excrutiatingly painful. I hope this doesn't mean I have some core dumps to look forward to instead. :-(

Hello...
I have one but it's not only the setup file, there is something different on the libs that make this DCOracle tweaked by me dumps core several times a day. So, I presume that's not what you want.
We have a small contract with Digital Creations to see if they, in a very limited amount of time, because we don't have yet the ressources, are able to release an 8i compatible version of DCOracle. Hope they will be posting some news soon. Meanwhile I recommend, if you are using Zope on a different server than the Oracle, use the Oracle8 (v 8.0.5) libs. It's supported right now by DCOracle and you shouldn't have problems. We are using that scheme in production.

All,
Before I start mucking around with the Setup file, I thought I would check to see if anyone out there already has a working Setup file for Oracle 8.1.5. Any contributions would be _very_ appreciated. :-)
Cheers, Jim
