I like to apologize. Your catalog_quote() method does work. I was trying to do a partial search on the poNo. For example, if poNo is "281 verbal", searching for either 281 or verbal works. But if poNo is "281-verbal", the Catalog treats it as one word. Therefore 281 (& so is verbal) is part of the whole word. I found out from the mailing list archive that the current ZCatalog does not support partial search. Do you have any idea how to implement partial search?

Take a look at your Zclass instance propertysheet for poNo. What is the value for poNo there?
It should be a string of letters, not numbers.
Start with something simpler to check to see if it's in the Catalog.
