I'm looking into the possibility of using Zope for a commercial web site. The site would be hosted by a third party. I can almost assure you that the hosting company has no experience with Zope. I'm sure that if I propose Zope, there will be a concern that our hosting facility wouldn't be prepared to deal with the administration and operation of Zope. Can people give me a feel for the types of skills and experience we would need to support Zope in a production environment?
Some installation knowledge, apache integration knowledge (rewrite rules, mostly) and system resource managment. No more so than any other type of long running process. Their objection would probably be more aesthetic than anything else, ie, Zope is 'alien' to them, especialy if they specialized in some other form of dynamic content like PHP. -Michel
