Thanks for your response. I am aware of that possible problem. I've structured my folders such that no single folder has more than about 2500 objects in it. Perhaps that's causing an issue all the same. I would have thought Fedora Core 3 could handle that, but I admit that my knowledge of operating systems is not that sophisticated. Dieter Maurer wrote:
