with no luck
Any suggestions on the proper syntax to do this?

if i understand the Q, you could try #not -tested <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('skinname', 'default')"> <dtml-with skins> <dtml-with "_.getitem(skinname)"> <dtml-var standard_skin_appearance> </dtml-with> </dtml-with> or try it in Script (Python) hth, and hope that i don't propagate misinformation :)
