I initially began with running Zope with a HD install of Knoppix, and that was pretty good, though limiting. And that's my fault, I didn't spend too much time on Knoppix internals. I have now switched to Gentoo, with a minimal install. I find Zope's performance seems much better with Gentoo. Take a look at the two Linux distros, perhaps they may be more suitable than Fedora.
