Good point, but it depends on the configuration of your site. I am quite paranoid about the undo mechanism. Being able to rollback the Data.fs makes it quite large, so I like to have a production system not have any undos that trace back to functionality change.(but this doesnt relate to your point) Why I don't use the export facility is that I havent been able to figure out yet how to export properties from /. If you develop your site in a folder, export to xml or zexp is great, but I like to use the absolute root, and I cannot find how to export that as a single file, subfolders included. Its really a matter of preference, because I could just easily use a siteRoot, but I guess choose not to. Perhaps someone can shed light if I am missing something about exporting '/'? I'm just a user. But I doubt there is much difference in the file format of the Data.fs. Its just a big packing method of storage, thus I think the python differences lie in the guts of zope..... If there were big changes in how Zope was packing its Data.fs, methinks there would be a big shit-storm (activate Zope censors) on the list regarding upgrades.... I've personally never had problems about replacing the Data.fs file..... Just copy and paste and remove any locking and socket files. You can also just copy your Products folders (the user-installed ones) to the new tree. Just be carefull for things like Python-dbms adapters because you'll need the /lib/python sources that you installed the first time.

And there isn't any problem because of the python upgrade ?? Gitte

Hei Ausum,
o.k., but how to put my 2.3.3 content, products and extensions to new 2.4.0 ?
Thank you Marcus
I would also really like to know this.

That's why they aren't smoothly compatible. Zope 2.3.x runs on Python 1.52, while Zope2.4 does on top of Python 2.1's new libraries.

Hi,
sorry about this stupid question. But how to update ZOPE 2.3.3 to 2.4.0. Can't find any downloads like Zope-2.3.x-to-2.4.0-linux2-x86.tgz.
Thank you Marcus
