"critical" as in "confidential" or as in "requiring urgent (quick) delivery". If "confidential", I'm not aware of seeing confidential info on these lists. If "urgent", what I see on these lists is no more time critical than what happens on other popular news groups -- take the python news group as an example, and anyway, my experience with USENET is that it isn't that much slower than email. Which isn't to say that the email lists shouldn't exist, but that they should be reduced to two flavors: a moderated announce list, and an insiders list for a few who are highly active in Zope (and I have concerns that this second flavor would initially weaken the news group, by siphoning off good questions and some of the best experts -- perhaps the "zope@zope.org" list would need to be replaced with an autoresponder, sending all non-followups a message inviting them to resubmit their message, to the news group). In short: What's good enough for Python (comp.lang.python) is good enough for Zope. It's time Zope had a strong news group presence. ======================================================================= I won't rest till it's the best ...
