actually stock CMF can be used to create a decent weblog and additional features can be programmed in in Python. For weblog functionality, plone does not give you really anything more than CMF, does it? also, ZWiki + BlogFace can give you a decent wiki with mailin and out among other things. and one does not need to be advanced to customize CMF or Plone. If you are using CMF then you could use plone. Plone is a good system but there is no real weblog, just news submissions and it will be impossible to use for anyone who is less then advanced level.
