The way we set up the Zope directory is that we set everything to user nobody so in your case chown -R nobody:nobody /root/shop/Zope-2.1.1-linux2-x86 and make sure that the /root/shop/Zope-2.1.1-linux2-x86/var is writable by nobody That should solve the permission issues since the server runs as nobody (I assume) Adonis On Thu, 23 Dec 1999, Xeno Campanoli wrote:

the latter indicated directory being in /root for the root user. As this is apparently supposed to work 'out of the box', I thought it would be worth emailing you first.
