If I make all the classes catalog-aware and point them to the name of the "root" ZCatalog, will they (re)index the root catalog or a catalog local to the class itself?
They find the closest item called 'Catalog', which may be the root if there is no other item "closer".
If the latter, can I force [it] to do the former?
Fiddle around with what Catalog is the closest.
