compilesz.py only byte-compiles the .py files but does has nothing to do with the built-in LFS support. Doesn't compilezpy.py make the python binary when you install? (also, for future, I noticed that python 2.2 is supposed to auto-detect during build?)

You have to build Python from scratch because LFS depends on your operating system and a pre-built Python binary with LFS enabled might not run on a system that has no LFS support.
