Anyways I want to say that my suggestion does just what 'select last_insert_id()' does. namely return the number created in an auto_increment field during your last insert

My profound apologies. "select <field_name> from <table_name> where <field_name> IS NULL" does indeed return the same value as last_insert_id(). My apologies again. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Tom Jenkins DevIS (http://www.devis.com) I suggested holding a "Python Object Oriented Programming Seminar", but the acronym was unpopular.
