I do not agree about javascript being evil - depends on how you use it, of course. lynx will not work for any web site that has graphics or anything else, so this would limit your use of other sites quite a bit. Is that your intention? Anyway, lynx does not support IFrames, does it? So supporting lynx would rule out any frame-based apporaches. Of course, some people think frames are evil, as well, and probably with more justification.
i don't believe in anything-client-side.
