I've been reading the Spetra/Zope comparisons with interest. My company is investigation Zope and Vignette. Do any of you have experience with them that you'd like to share? How easy is it to work with, how flexible is it, etc?
I get to go to a Vignette presentation tomorrow. Do any of you have any advice about what to look for and/or ask?
Well, I know quite a few people at Vignette (they're in my home town), and interesting had a 3 hour discussion with one of their larger customers when I was flying back from SFO this weekend... o Performance in NON-cache mode o Real personalization issues (I was told they have little more than a rough framework that pales compared to ZClasses even) o Cost :-) I know for a fact that only one or two people have ever bought Vignette without a lot of consulting. Average deployment is around $500K-1M and a first strike is $150-200K. o Flexibility. There's nothing anywhere near acquisition in Vignette, and not even close. o Delegation of authority (a'la our security model). o Security Model. They didn't want to talk about it when I asked them at one of their presentations. This scares me.
