Dieter, Well, I figured out my problem. Im an Idiot! Seriously though, I was trying to patch 'xmlrpclib.py'. This would explain why I couldn't find any of the contextual information from the patch. I should have read more carefully ("I patched "ZPublisher.xmlrpc" to send tracebacks with the response."). I was just so used to using 'xmlrpclib.py' for xmlrpc client functions that it went right over my head. Thanks nonetheless, and at least this forced me to learn about patch, diff, and ZPublisher :) Regards, Derek Basch --- Dieter Maurer <dieter@handshake.de> wrote:

I have been practicing using the patch tool in cygwin and have successfully patched a few files now. However, I still can't get your xmlrpc traceback patch to work. You were right about my mail reader malforming the patch before, but I fixed that, and as far as I can tell my copy is exactly identical to the one posted on handshake.de. I wanted to try your help one last time before I do it manually. I thought my problem might be that I was using v0.9.9, which includes the HTTPS functions but after downgrading to v0.9.8 it still didn't work. I attached my copy of the patch and here is the error I am getting:
$ patch xmlrpclib.py xmlrpclib.patch patching file `xmlrpclib.py' patch unexpectedly ends in middle of line Hunk #1 FAILED at 122. 1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to xmlrpclib.py.rej You try to patch a Zope 2.5.1 "xmlrpclib.py"?
The error indicates the patch is somehow truncated. I do not how how this can happen...
I cannot help you further because I am away for several weeks... Please stay on the mailing list.
Dieter
