and our web admin says that "ZopePerl is dead anyway".
He's correct. At least in those chapters that I am updating for the 2.7 Edition I am removing all references to it.

Followup question: I have also read that there is a SOAPMethod available, but there's few details about this on the website beyond its existance. This is the next item on our todo list to try. Does this mechanism work or is it dead as well?
Never heard of such a beast... if it happens to be mentioned somewhere in the Zope Book please let me know where and I will make sure it won't show up in the 2.7 Edition. jens
