We should add a check to z2.py that checks the version of the used Python interpreter against a list of supported Python versions and output a *detailed* warning. -aj ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jens Vagelpohl" <jens@zope.com> To: "Jan Ulrich Hasecke" <janulrich.hasecke@web.de> Cc: <zope@zope.org> Sent: Friday, August 23, 2002 14:11 Subject: Re: [Zope] Zope 2.5.0 and python 2.2.0 on Suse 8.0
i think the following items have been discussed over and over on this list, but maybe they bear repeating:
- user zope 2.5.1. it fixes some potential crashing bugs that 2.5.0 had.
- do not use python 2.2 with zope. it is not officially supported. use 2.1. 3

Hi,
I have a server with Suse 8.0.
The combination of Zope 2.5.0 and python 2.2.0 causes problems with the latest CMFPlone (see http://plone.org/collector/249 )
On my home server with Debian 3.0 (Zope 2.5.1 / python 2.1.3) I have no problems.
What shall I do?
Would you recommend to upgrade Zope to 2.5.1 and to downgrade python to 2.1.3?
And what is the best way to do it on Suse?
TIA juh
