[Zope] DTML var and performance

Hi, I would like to translate some products (like Squishdot) in other langages (french, spanish...). I planned to replace all the hard coded texte in DTML methods and documents by reference to properties or attributes of some objects. The question is: Will I lost in term of perfomance if replace each word or phrase in all the dtml methods or documents by a dtml var tag? Same question if I use a lot of cascading style sheets in order to make the products even more customizable.
