[Zope] Accents (ISO Latin) cannot be searched with ZCatalog..

I was very disappointed on my first try with ZCatalog when I noticed that it cannot properly index documents containing european accents.. The search engine I installed is of course unusable because it cannot find a large number of words in the indexed documents. I am running Zope 2.0.1, Python 1.5.2 and to install ZCatalog I followed the instructions in the ZCatalog howto. How can I correct this problem?
