[Zope] new to zope basic questions

hi, just started working through the zcmg document from the zope site & have already found a question i cant answer. completed the first tutorial but my screen does not have such things as the control panel etc down the left side. i am wondering if i accessed the interface correctly. the process i followed was 1. logged into the members part of zope.org 2. then accessed the 'Manage items in your personal folder' link this seemed to give me the appropriate interface without control panel etc. have gone to add a user & there is no acl users link etc. sorry about asking such basic questions but am stumped. thanks in advance michael
