I don't think compressed storage would be related to this; though I have never used it, my understaing is that it only compresses large objects; the initialization of the db may have more to do with the number of objects (including old/deleted stuff)... Add refresh.txt and refresh your product from the control panel instead?
Also not helped by CompressedStorage throwing CorruptDataErrors all the time :-S
