Thanks Loren, that's exactly the problem. It disappeared when I changed my PythonMethod to return the object proper rather than object.id.

If that's the case, there must be a method that does the conversion, but I don't know right off what that would be.

I initially thought so too but then realized that there cannot be such a method as Zope does not require unique ids (only unique in the current container). Cheers, Darran.
