The older Python port didn't include the 'new' module. You need to cd /usr/ports/lang/python make clean make configure (now edit Setup in the Modules directory to uncomment out the 'new' module) (probably need a make 'deinstall' here.) make install -steve On Thursday, May 17, 2001, at 05:58 AM, Alexander A. Hi!
I've experienced troubles when upgrading Zope from 2.2.2 to 2.3.2 on FreeBSD.
My current production system is (from Zope Control Panel):
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zope version: Zope 2.2.2 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python version: 1.5.2 (#2, Jul 7 2000, 20:22:51) [GCC 2.7.2.3] System Platform: freebsd3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've tried to build Zope 2.3.2 from sources. I've got the following output when I started Zope instance after building it:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------- bash-2.03# uname -a FreeBSD XXX.XXXXXXX.ru 3.4-RELEASE FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE #0: Tue Jun 20 18:26:23 GMT 2000 XXXX@XXX.XXXXXXX.ru:/usr/src/sys/compile/FIREBALL i386 bash-2.03# bash-2.03# python --version Python 1.5.2 (#2, Jul 7 2000, 20:22:51) [GCC 2.7.2.3] on freebsd3 Copyright 1991-1995 Stichting Mathematisch Centrum, Amsterdam

bash-2.03# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not Python programmer but I think "new" is not module name in this context. I can't locate neither new.py nor new.pyc at my Python installation.
What is the root of problem and what should I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
