But in instances like a DB query form where you might use the same form to perform a search, or a record update or add a new record, it is acceptable form to use the :method method?
Yup, that would be a good example. I have also used it several times in a 'Are you sure' question. Yes would submit the form with hidden data, No would send the suer back to the form they were filling in, so they can correct.
