Thanks--I'll bear that sort of google search in mind before kvetching here in future. The link supplied pointed me to a solution (under the heading "If you get locked out"), which worked after I got back in (by suppressing SiteRoot), used the "Undo" tab, and ignored the resulting message that seemed to indicate the undo had failed.
