One approach is to install the Cookie Crumbler product and create an instance in the root of your Zope. Check the box to have the installation process create the loggin-form and logged-in which you'll customize. Set the View permission of the root to "Authorized User", and override it for the login-form so that Anonymous users can get to the form, and you should be in business.
