I try to answer all the questions in one mail: - ping localhost works ! current IP doesnt help (including http://) - in the event log is just an information, that the service is started. if i stop it manually, i get the information stopped. - I thing that I don't have anything else running on the relevant ports, but if i try to test it with several port scanners, i get an error an the scanner stops (application has been killed)! ->i think i have some other big problems with my win2000?!?!?!?

Is localhost defined on your machine? It should be in the hosts file as 127.0.0.1 Verify that "ping localhost" works. Try entering your current IP address instead of "localhost"
Also if you are using IE you must put the http:// part on the URL or it will not understand the line when a port is specified. Netscape doesn't require it.

When you try to visit the manage method in the browser (via http://localhost:8080/manage), what do you get? Does the browser give an error? or do you get a page you don't expect to get?
