[Zope] Python Method Question

      Have a hopefully simple question:

I'm trying to get clarification on this:

created an instance of Python Method and named it testPM

Id:    testPM
Title:
Parameter List: self

code:
return self.title

I get an error.... but when i change the parameter list:
Parameter List: REQUEST, self

it works fine..... why do I need the REQUEST and why does it have to be
before the 'self' and not  after???
