[Zope] Need to call external programs in a DTML

Need to call some external programs written in Tcl or Java that will update some database tables in order to deliver some information retrievable by ordinary Z SQL methods. I presume that I should add some external methods and some simple Python scripts that will call my programs. Any example of this kind of action?
