Now that I've gone one record as saying you should roll your own, I happened to notice that there *is* a Zope package for Gentoo:
Yes, but up until aproximately yesterday if you needed to use any c-based products- DA's for example, you were on your own. Python-only products just need to be untarred to work, products that need compilation are a real pain. If I was commited to using Redhat for some reason, I would be required to modify spec files and build my own rpms for compiled DA's. I would actually rather use Gentoo, but for other distributions it's still harder than it needs to be and may prevent people from using Zope.
