Chris, The docs weren't very clear, and I didn't read them thoroughly. Stripogram seems to be what I was looking for. Thanks. My apologies for my earlier very much incorrect and premature email summary. And you're right, this question is not strictly Zope related. But Zope users tend to be savvy at both python and HTML. So it seems more logical for me to post the question on the Zope list rather than a python list. Also, I consider myself more of a Zope user than a python user... Thanks gain. Suggestions so far:
1. StripoGram - no good, this strips HTML tags, it doesn't fix invalid characters in text to be included in HTML
read the docs, learn how to use html2safehtml properly ;-)
3. html_quote from Products.PythonScripts.standard- exactly what I want, but this is taking me back full circle. What I'm looking for is html_quote without having to install Zope.
Then why are you asking on a Zope list?! Chris -- Simplistix - Content Management, Zope & Python Consulting - http://www.simplistix.co.uk
