[Zope] Oracle 7.x Connection under linux

I would like to access an oracle 7.x through a Zope installation on linux. However there do not seem to be oracle 7.x libraries for Linux. When using the oracle 8 client I am able to do SELECTs from a table but on inserts or updates I recieve oracle errors like "variable not in select list" or "fetch out of sequence".
