In <http://www.zope.org/Members/Caseman/ExternalEditor/install-win32> Casey notes "The helper application can run any editor program that does not detach itself from the controlling process. As for editors that insist on detaching from the controlling process (EditPad does this by default), you need to configure them so that they do not detach. For EditPad you could use: editor = C:\Program Files\EditPadClassic\EditPad.exe /newinstance" I've just tried EditPadPro and watched the error you get if you don't use /newinstance - things fail on attempting to open the second and subsequent files. I get the same error when trying HTML-Kit when opening the second and subsequent files. The HTML-Kit docs mention a /si parameter to open a single-instance but I want the reverse - a new instance - which, should, from my reading of the docs be the default behaviour. But, as far as I can tell, this is not what HTML-Kit is doing. I know we've got some HTML-Kit enthusiasts on this list - can you help?
