Hi Chris,
it depends on your product if it needs special handling of WEBDAV and
  FTP.
  For most cases, ie edit content, download source Zope handles it already
  if you subclass some of the standard classes like Folder, Objectmanager
  or PageTemplate.
  If you need special handling, look for manage_FtpGet (or so ;) in the
  code
  of these products and their parents.
  If you want to customize creating of objects of your classes via WebDAV
  and FTP, you should look at the NullResource handling of ObjectManager
  and the __getattr__ method. Unfortunately it is a bit overcomplicated
  in this area. I can try to compile some samples of what I've done with
  it, if time permits.
